The Organic reception chair was a joint collaboration by the great designers Eero Saarinen, designer of the Tulip furniture and womb chair to name but a few, and the husband and wife team Ray and Charles Eames.

The Organic reception chair was first shown in 1940 but it took over a decade for technology to improve enough for it to be possible to manufacture large quantities of moulded chair shells, necessary for a chair of this shape.
